Ingestive behavior of lambs fed relocated and inoculated whole-plant corn silage

چکیده

We aimed to determine the effect of relocation whole-plant corn silage (WPCS) with different fermentation profiles on ingestive behavior lambs. Twenty-four male Santa Inês lambs, were used in a completely randomized block design based initial body weight (17.5 ± 1.8 kg) for following treatments: CS: WPCS (not inoculated and not relocated); R-12h: relocated 12h; IR-12h: Lactobacillus plantarum R-24h: 24h. Ingestive was observed as continuous (feeding, ruminating, idling) specific (urination, defecation, water salt access frequency) activities 48h (3h intervals total eight periods 24h). The behavioral affected only by (p = 0.0001). Feeding peaks high at 8:00–11:00am (54.2%) 5:00-8:00pm (54.9%) compare ruminating idling same period. Rumination time intense night, 63.7% (2:00–5:00am) 69.7% (5:00–8:00am). Idling (49.7%) long after supply. during morning periods. Supply up 24h did alter behavior.

Ingestive Behavior of Heifers Feeding with Marandu Grass Silage

The present study was aimed at assessing the ingestive behavior of ¾ Zebu × Holstein heifers confined to different levels of substitution of sorghum silage by marandu grass silage. Twenty heifers were used with initial average weight of 346.25 kg, divided into completely randomized experimental design with 5 repetitions and the following treatments: treatment 1) roughage fraction of the diet co...

Performance of heifers fed a corn silage

A study was conducted using 63 Angus crossbred heifers (234.5 ± 18.97 kg) to compare Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) versus Soybean Meal (SBM) as a supplemental protein source. Animals were assigned to three treatments, which were SBM and two levels of DDGS, fed as a top-dressed supplement. Treatments were formulated to provide .30 kg SBM (12.5% CP, 1.08 Mcal NEg/kg; SBM), .30 kg D...

Case Study: Fermentation of frozen whole-plant corn silage and high-moisture corn after thawing

The study objectives were to evaluate (1) the effect of thawing unfermented whole-plant corn (WPC; Exp. 1) on fermentation capacity after several months of frozen storage, and (2) the effect of temperature on fermentation profile of thawed high-moisture corn (HMC; Exp. 2) stored frozen for a longer period and then fermented at 2 ambient temperatures. Unfermented WPC and HMC samples were obtaine...

Ingestive Behavior and Nitrogen Balance of Confined Santa Ines Lambs Fed Diets Containing Soybean Hulls

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of substituting corn with soybean hulls on the ingestive behavior and nitrogen balance of Santa Ines lambs. A total of 25 lambs with an initial body weight of 20±2 kg at approximately six months of age, sheltered individually in stalls (1.10 m×1.0 m), considering an entirely casual experimental delineation. Soybean hulls were substituted for ...

Ingestive Behavior of Ovine Fed with Marandu Grass Silage Added with Naturally Dehydrated Brewery Residue

The objective was to evaluate the ingestive behavior of ovine fed Marandu grass silage with dehydrated brewery residue added. The experiment had a completely randomized design with five treatments and four repetitions, with the treatments levels of inclusion being of 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40% natural matter of naturally dehydrated brewery residue for 36 hours to the marandu grass silage. 20 ovines...
